A barber’s shop is a small load and a hard one. Clippers, two fans, a light bright enough to see an edge, and a POS machine that has to be up when a customer is holding a card and no cash.
Chidera ran a 950VA “I better pass my neighbour” for four years. Petrol at the pump made the maths worse every quarter, and the noise argued with his radio, which argued with conversation, which is half of what people come for.
The system is small — 1.5 kWp and 5 kWh — and that is the point. It was sized to his shop, not to an idea of a shop.
What changed was closing time. Six o’clock used to be the end because six o’clock was when the compound got dark and loud. Now his last cut is often at nine, and the students who finish lectures late are a new category of customer he did not have before.
His POS has not dropped in eight months. He mentions this before he mentions the fuel.
